About this topic, I have a lot of things to share with you. It is probably difficult to believe that last year I spent 400 hours on improving my English listening and speaking. After graduation, I didn't have enough time to speak English. So, although I am an English major,my spoken English could be better. If your listening is not good, your spoken English will be influenced. So I decided to do dictation and practice to improve my English.
I gave up my leisure time to improve my English. For example, at tea-time I practiced.After work, I went back home later and did dictation. At the beginning, I couldn't write down what I had heard, so I felt frustrated and worried. I consulted my English teacher. She encouraged me to persist because I had chosen a right way to learn English. I regained the confidence to continue my studies. I continued this practice for one year. As a result, I can now express myself freely and other people think that my spoken English has made a lot of progress.
Now I work as an English teacher. And I'm genuinely proud of my achievement. It was difficult at the beginning and I was about to give up because all those activities were really hard.
This is something I never thought I could do. You can't even imagine how much effort I put in to achieving this result. I would even say I was fighting a difficult battle and I won.
